Spring has sprung! The thought of jumping out of bed on a sunny morning fills you with joy but sometimes you feel you're back at square one with your training and need a kickstart. It can be hard to motivate yourself - even if you're a personal trainer! We're all human after all.
The key is to focus on a realistic goal that will make you train that bit harder and stretch you that much further. It might be your son or daughter's wedding or even your sibling's wedding and you don't want to let the side down - because it's all about the #instapix or it could be your own wedding. There are many triggers to get fit and many not to get fit too - it's all about focus, willpower and making the time.
Luckily for me my clients are my goal and I need to lead by example. But I'll let you into a secret - it's my 10th wedding anniversary soon and while I can still slip into my wedding dress, I desperately want uber sculpted arms. And you know what, I'm determined to get them by hook or by crook.
Of course life gets in the way, work gets in the way, to be honest everything gets in the life. The thing to do is make life easy for yourself and start planning your workout sessions. Government guidelines state that we all need 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity. Ultimately it's about increasing your heart rate for a sustained period of time.
TIPS:
Get your kit ready in advance - wear something that makes you feel good
Plan your time - diarise your sessions
Create some SMART goals - ie lose 6 pounds in 3 months by cutting back on carbs and increasing the number of times you exercise from 1 to 3 sessions a week. You get the picture.
Build up slowly - you're on a journey
The days are becoming lighter and longer and you will begin feeling leaner and brighter!
Good luck!
